Malia Cohen Threatens Legal Action Over MaliaCohen.org. Herb Morgan's Response? Not Taking It Down.

Explore MaliaCohen.org, a political accountability website examining California State Controller Malia Cohen’s record on government spending, audits, taxpayer transparency, and financial oversight.

SACRAMENTO, CA — October 30, 2026 — With just four days until Election Day, California State Controller Malia Cohen's campaign has turned to lawyers in an attempt to force the removal of MaliaCohen.org, a website examining her record on government spending, audits, and financial accountability.

Herb Morgan's answer? Absolutely not.

Today, Morgan's attorney, Vikas Bajaj, issued a formal response rejecting those demands.

The response argues that MaliaCohen.org is protected political speech, clearly identifies itself as paid for by Herb Morgan's campaign, and explicitly states that it is not affiliated with Cohen or the State Controller's Office.

The website stays. The domain stays. And the questions about Cohen's record aren't going anywhere.

Here's What Cohen's Lawyers Haven't Answered

According to Morgan's legal response, Cohen's demand letter does not identify a single false statement on the website or a single voter who was actually misled.

Instead of addressing the public records, government audits, and accountability questions featured on MaliaCohen.org, Cohen's campaign is challenging the website itself.

Morgan's legal team also warned that any lawsuit would be met with an anti-SLAPP motion and a request to recover applicable attorney's fees and costs.

California Deserves Answers, Not Legal Threats

Californians deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent, whether government programs are being properly audited, and whether their elected Controller is delivering meaningful financial oversight.

Those questions don't disappear because an incumbent sends a demand letter.

Four days until Election Day. The voters deserve answers, not another legal bill.

Visit MaliaCohen.org to examine the public record for yourself.

On November 3, vote Herb Morgan for California State Controller.
